Fresh-cut flower basics
Six simple habits.
You do not need special equipment or a degree in horticulture. Clean water, fresh cuts, and a sensible location do most of the heavy lifting.
Trim the stems
Re-cut stems at an angle before placing them in water. A fresh cut helps flowers drink more easily.
Keep leaves out of the water
Remove foliage that would sit below the waterline so it does not break down in the vase.
Refresh the water
Top off and replace water regularly. If the water looks cloudy, change it.
Choose a comfortable spot
Keep flowers away from direct heat, strong sun, and hot air blowing from vents.

Designed arrangements
Sometimes the container changes the care.
Arrangements designed in floral foam, baskets, specialty containers, or other mechanics may need to be watered differently than loose flowers in a vase.
If you are not sure how your specific design should be cared for, call Fleur de Farber and ask. It is better to ask than to accidentally turn your centerpiece into a swamp.
